Newfoundland In the fall of 2008 I had the opportunity to participate in a 5 week residency at the Gross Morne National Park in Newfoundland. Having a period of time to explore a new place and focus uninterrupted on painting was fantastic. I had never been to Newfoundland, but found it to be a distant - but undoubtably related - cousin to the Yukon. Beyond the commonality of northern flora and fauna, (and moose!) I found the area to feel quite wild, and the people to be very self reliant. The big difference of course - the ocean - and the marine history that saturates the Island made for a completely new experience. I loved it and hope to return again some day.
